Years of a stressful and sedentary lifestyle (I was always going to start running again, or start eating right) and a lot of comfort eating left me at a point where I ignored the mirror and scale and had become resigned to the much larger sized clothes I had begun wearing. My weight had escalated beyond what I weighed when I gave birth to both my boys. There was always yo-yo dieting that led to minimal results, making me feel better about myself for a short period of time, but old habits are hard to forget and the weight generally came back with a vengeance. And honestly, I just love food.
I entered JeniFit in October 2015, only because a friend had encouraged me to join her for a spin class. She never showed up and I later found out that she and Chris, the spin instructor, were in a conspiracy that got me started at JeniFit. That first spin class was HARD (I’m supposed to be in what gear at how many RPM)! I remember looking around at all the others who were able to follow Chris’ instruction, and thought they were all crazy overachievers! But I stuck with it, and began to go to the other classes offered, and realized that I really loved it. I was always athletic so a tough instructor was what I needed. Every instructor is so positive and gently coaxes everyone to push themselves to the point of challenge. If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you!
When I hesitantly joined DYW, I was hoping for some good results and was motivated, but still a bit dubious with what might be the outcome. I wasn’t sure I was ready to commit. After one week, I felt so much better, had more energy and felt lighter. I combined the food program with at least one class a day and saw incredible results. What I liked most about DYW was the clean approach to eating, watching the amounts of additives and preservatives in food, eating as preservative-free as possible and the philosophy that snacks are not evil. After years of dieting (and being a “lifetime member” of another weight loss program for 25 years), I knew what to eat and what to avoid, but DYW made me more conscious of what was IN the good foods and how I should approach my daily diet. I began to feel pretty darn good! My DYW program was 6 weeks and by the end, I had lost 21 lbs. and inches off my waist. I was so much more confident and happy with my body. Not only had I dropped pounds, but I had gained muscle and definition by dedicating myself to the exercise classes and not quitting. The numbers are wonderful to see, but even better is that it feels so good and I love my muscles!
After DYW, I did the Deflate Your Weight Next Level Program and I have continued to follow lifestyle changes with eating and managing my stress (most of the time) and have continued to lose weight. Of course, there are always hard days and lulls in motivation, but I try to accept those days and carry on more successfully the next day. At the time of this writing, I have lost 35 lbs. I suppose it really became apparent to me (because I still see my old self in the mirror) when I recently went clothes shopping and was astounded that my jeans size had gone from a size 14 to 6, and my top from XXL/1X to L/XL. I cannot tell you how good it feels to put on a size 6 jean and walk around.
People have asked me what I’ve done that would work for them. Simply, I tell them, I just follow the DYW program, listen to Jen, Chris and all the instructors and stay motivated because of the results.
Just do what they tell you, the rest falls into place.
